What is the UNESCO World Heritage Sites?

A common misconception among outsiders is that Red Square rose to popularity solely under the Communist regime. It dates back to the 11th century, making it Moscow’s most historic site. The Red Square has served as the center of political, social, and religious life in Russia for all of its 1,000-year existence.

The Pharaohs Khufu, his son Khafre, and Menkaure, son of Khafre, built them on the Giza plateau in the fourth dynasty of Ancient Egypt’s Old Kingdom. Along with larger structures like the Great Sphinx of Giza, the Giza plateau is home to numerous additional smaller pyramids and temples.

 Many centuries ago, one of Greece’s most significant monastic communities was established on these enormous rocks, which tower over 600 meters above the stunning environment. Meteora is a wonderful location to explore, with its breathtaking scenery and byzantine monasteries perched atop precipitous rocks and containing precious artifacts and wall murals. In 1988, the monasteries of Meteora were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

22. KINDERDIJK, MOLENLANDEN, NETHERLANDS

The Kinderdijk Windmills are a rare group of 19, making them the greatest collection of historic mills in the Netherlands. Previously, some of these mills were used to press oil, crush stone, or manufacture paint. A windmill for cutting wood was created in 1574 by a genius, producing a large amount of timber.

They are not only a complex design for extra water but also houses. Only three of the 19 buildings on the property, all of which were constructed between 1738 and 1740, remain vacant; you could even peek inside one of them.

23. MONT SAINT-MICHEL, FRANCE

The Mont Saint-Michel, a Benedictine monastery in Gothic architecture, is situated on an islet between Normandy and Brittany, surrounded by a sandy bay and a tiny settlement.
